The Pompidou Group was invited by the Nordic Council to attend their annual Nordic Alcohol and Drug Seminar that took place on 22-24 August 2018 in Torshaven, Faroe Islands. The Pompidou Group was invited at the initiative of the Permanent Correspondent of Iceland to the Pompidou Group, Mr Rafn Jonasson. The aim of the seminar was to exchange knowledge and experiences, primarily in the drug and alcohol prevention area, to provide a forum for discussion for Nordic countries and to learn about new trends and developments in Europe. Elena Hedoux presented the Pompidou Group’s work in the area of developing on-line based drug demand reduction interventions and social marketing strategies to make such tools reach target groups. In this context the Drughelp.eu tool, developed within the SEE cooperation programme, received widespread interest among participants. Thomas Kattau gave a presentation on recent “Legislative developments concerning psychoactive substances” in Europe underlying the initiatives the Pompidou Group undertook in the area of the New Psychoactive Substances. The presence of the Pompidou Group in the annual Nordic Alcohol and Drug Seminar and the rich exchanges of experiences brought new insights for the attending professionals from the Nordic countries. It is expected that the participation in this event will lead to intensified cooperation with its Nordic member States and associated countries.
