The first report on the drug situation in Lebanon 2017 has been disseminated widely through awareness campaigns in Lebanon involving the President of the Republic at an event organised by the Presidential Palace to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 28 June. NGOs and various ministries set up stands to raise awareness about Substance Use Disorders in the garden of the Presidential Palace.

The Minister of Public Health announced the ministry's campaign to raise awareness on 29 June. His speech marks the official launch of the report as the first publication of the National Observatory on Drugs and Drug Addiction.

The report was funded by MedNET, the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe's Mediterranean cooperation network in the field of drugs.

It has been produced by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), in partnership with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, Interior and Municipalities, Justice, and Social Affairs, and the Lebanese Customs, with the technical support of the Association Francophone pour les Malades Mentaux (AFMM), European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction – European Neighbourhood Policy project (EMCDDA-ENP), and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The report has been translated to Arabic and is available on the MOPH website in both languages.
