The EYF visits a local youth democracy project in France

On 19 and 20 November 2022, the EYF visited the local project of the organisation MRJC – Rural Movement of Christian Youth France, “The voices of the rural areas”, which was supported by the EYF as part of its special call related to the campaign “Democracy here. Democracy now”. The activity took place in Carhaix, France.

The activity visited was a free youth parliament, a two-day activity during which 35 young people experiences direct democracy, discussed about their dreams and their fears, and built on the key topics they identified a series of solutions. Out of the two days, several local project proposals came up, ranging from fighting climate change, combating discrimination, enhancing youth participation, access to rights, combating violence and insecurity, to youth mobility.
