79th Committee of Permanent Correspondents Meeting

The Committee of Permanent Correspondents of the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement held its 79th meeting on 11 May 2023 by videoconference. The main aim of the meeting was to discuss the use of social media to support national measures for successful disaster risk communication. The permanent correspondents also held an exchange of views with Mr Matjaž Gruden, Director of Democratic Participation, on the Council of Europe’s contribution to protect the environment, in the light of the upcoming Summit of Heads of State in Reykjavik and with Mr Simon Moutquin on the PACE Report on “Political strategies to prevent, prepare for, and face the consequences of natural disasters”.

Furthermore, the permanent correspondents reviewed the list of specialised centres and invited the Specialized Centre for Technological Hazards (Slovak Republic) to join the EUR-OPA Network.
