US makes a voluntary contribution to the Octopus Project

The Government of the United States of America has made a voluntary contribution in the amount of 250,000 USD to the Council of Europe action on cybercrime through the Octopus Project. On this occasion, Ms Darragh Paradiso, Consul General of the United States of America met Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Björn Berge.

The project aims to support countries worldwide in strengthening their criminal justice capacities in line with the Convention on Cybercrime and related standards.

Following opening for signature of the Second Additional Protocol to the Budapest Convention in May 2022, specific activities to support implementation of the Protocol will be delivered under the Octopus Project, in particular with respect to direct cooperation with service providers and the provisions on emergency cooperation.

The Council of Europe gratefully acknowledges the voluntary contribution of the USA to this project.
