Anand Ramaswamy

Anand Ramaswamy is the cybercrime-focused International Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (ICHIP) Attorney Advisor for Africa, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as an attaché to the U.S. Mission to the African Union. He has over 23 years’ experience as a prosecutor, serving with the U.S. Department of Justice since 2007 and previously with the State of North Carolina. Anand received the highest award in the Department of Justice, the Attorney General’s David Margolis Award for Exceptional Service for 2021, for his work as part of the Emotet botnet disruption team, a case he opened in 2018. During his career he has specialized in crimes involving vulnerable victims in the areas of domestic violence, human trafficking, and online child sexual exploitation, as well as in complex cybercrime matters. His 2014 federal fraud prosecution of the adoptive parents of a missing North Carolina teen led to the couples’ convictions, and later to the discovery of the girl’s remains and eventual state life sentences for the pair.
