2014

Turin, 17 October 2014: International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

The annual event organised by the Conference of INGOs on 17 October, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, will take place this year in Turin. This event is connected to the high level Conference on the European Social Charter taking place in Turin on 17 and 18 October and discussions will focus on Article 30 of the European Social Charter “Everyone has the right to protection against poverty and social exclusion”. People living in poverty will participate in the event and will share their experiences and hopes. The President of the Conference of INGOs will transmit the conclusions of the meeting to the participants in the high level Conference on 18 October.

Chisinau, 12 and 13 June: Regional meeting on “Civil society participation in decision-making: dreams, reality and challenges"

NGOs from Eastern Europe met in Chisinau to discuss whether civil society participation in decision-making was a dream, a reality or still a challenge. Participants discussed ways of promoting the participation of civil society in democratic decision-making and the assistance which the Council of Europe could provide to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the region.

Kyiv, 14-15 November: Seminar on civil participation - the Ukrainian path to European Standards

Seminar organised by the Conference of INGOs at which the Code of Good Practice for Civil Participation in the Decision-making Process was recognised as a valuable tool for participation and one that should be used more often in future Council of Europe co-operation projects.

Strasbourg, 17 October 2012: Building Europe through Human Rights: Acting Together against Extreme Poverty

Conference organised by the Conference of INGOs on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty at which the Presidents of the Committee of Ministers, the Parliamentary Assembly, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and the Conference of INGOs, adopted a joint declaration undertaking to work together to eradicate extreme poverty.

Organised by the Conference of INGOs in the framework of the Turkish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers and in co-operation with COJEP International, the Forum aimed to familiarise participating NGOs with the Council of Europe’s White Paper on intercultural dialogue, to identify good practice of NGO action in the field of intercultural dialogue and to contribute to the work of the Group of Wise Persons on the “Living Together in 21st century Europe – the Pan-European Project”.
