Background |
The draft has been the subject of several rounds of consultations, including more recently, during a meeting Brussels on 12-13 September 2011. It was finalised by the MC-NM at its meeting on 20 and 21 September 2011.

Ad hoc Advisory Group on the Protection of Neighbouring Rights of Broadcasting Organisations (MC-S-NR)
Note |
The meetings of the MC-S-NR have been postponed in the absence of a negotiating mandate for the European Commission. The Secretariat will inform the Bureau on the state of play, including in the framework of WIPO. |
7. Discussion on the future work programme of the Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI)
Background |
Once the terms of reference for the CDMSI have been adopted, the Secretariat will prepare work-plans for various expected results. The Bureau’s and CDMC’s guidance is welcome in this connection. Brainstorming and mapping out meeting may be organised in respect of certain subjects (e.g. the gender dimension of media coverage of election campaigns, a charter of rights of internet users). |

The Bureau should discuss the matter and give guidance to the Secretariat. |
8. Stocktaking of CDMC work

Background |
At its 14th meeting, the CDMC asked the Secretariat to prepare a draft stocktaking document of its work since 2005 for consideration at its next meeting. |

Background |
The CDMC decided that reflection should start on the themes and content of the conference in light of its preliminary discussions. It is envisaged to invite two experts to make submissions or hold an exchange with the CDMC, namely Messrs Ziga Türk and Ren Reynolds. |
Expected action |
Discuss this matter in view of the exchange with the experts. |
