Preparations for the 3rd Law Enforcement Conference of Drug Control Networks start in Strasbourg

A focussed working group convened on 1 April 2026 to prepare the 3rd Law Enforcement Conference of Pompidou Group: Drug Control Networks.

The focussed working group brought together the Pompidou Group’s the Austrian Presidency, Mexican Vice-Presidency, and Pompidou Group law enforcement experts, with an emphasis on shaping the conference programme.

Discussions centred on developing a balanced programme that reflects the most urgent and emerging issues in drug control today. Planned conference sessions will address topics ranging from the dismantling of illicit drug production and supply chains, strategies of organised crime networks and new trends in drug trafficking, to the environmental consequences of drug-related criminal activities. The impact of the digital sphere on drug markets and the importance of judicial and international co-operation.

The Pompidou Group Law Enforcement Conference on Drug Control Networks has established itself as a key multidisciplinary forum, bringing together representatives from police, customs, justice,  private sector, academia and major regional and international bodies such as Interpol, Europol, Eurojust, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the World Customs Organization (WCO). The conference is a vital network platform for exchanging knowledge and good practices, bridging traditional enforcement work with responses to new threats including the digital drug trade, synthetic drug developments, artificial intelligence in enforcement and environmental issues linked to drug-related crime.
