Training seminars on planning and production of documentary films with focus on social issues and human rights in the Republic of Moldova

Within its project « Promoting European Standards in the Audio-visual Regulation in the Republic of Moldova », the Council of Europe, together with Telefim Chisinau supports 16 young film-makers to mainstream human rights and social issues in their documentaries.

Therefore, online training seminars on “European best practices in planning and production of documentary films” are being held throughout this week in the Republic of Moldova, conducted by international consultant and film director, Irene Langemann. During the seminar participants will improve their knowledge on film’s content and the concept of creation, storytelling, description of the characters, organization of the interviews, dramaturgy and elaboration of pitching materials.

The activity is to last 5 days and will culminate with a pitching session facilitated by commission members composed from CoE consultant, project representative and Telefim Chisinau as the project stakeholder. Following the outcomes of pitching exercise, the authors of the best documentary scenarios will benefit from the support of the Council of Europe in documentary films to be produced within July-September 2020.

Due to previous positive experience of Moldovan film-makers which won an international award "Soroca’s Great Theatre" documentary in 2019, this event represents a follow-up activity dedicated to the new young film-maker’s journalists.
