As part of ongoing efforts to promote media freedom and enhance journalistic standards, the Council of Europe recently organised a workshop in Brezovica, Kosovo*. The event aimed at addressing the challenges journalists face while reporting from sensitive environments. Participants included journalists from both the Albanian and Serbian communities, focusing on key challenges faced by professionals in the field. The workshop covered topics such as reporting from conflict zones, addressing sensitive issues from the past, overcoming language barriers in cross-community reporting, and working in hostile environments.
This workshop was organised by the Council of Europe Policy Planning and Confidence Building Measures Division jointly with the Action “Protecting Freedom of Expression and of the Media (PROFREX)” in coordination with the Association of Journalists of Kosovo. PROFREX is part of the joint European Union and the Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye” and is implemented by the Council of Europe Division for Co-operation on Freedom of Expression.
