Workshop 4: Role of policymakers and legislators in the fight against cybercrime: when policy meets practice

This workshop will explore the role of policymakers in ensuring the necessary legal mechanisms and tools for the criminal justice system to investigate, prosecute and adjudicate cybercrime. The workshop will also explore how strategic actions at national level enable policymakers to have a comprehensive and proactive approach to combat cybercrime, enhancing the resilience of society against cyber threats.

The aim of this workshop is to identify the steps towards further strengthening of national legislation in African countries in line with international standards and the role of policymakers to ensure that the adopted legislation respects human rights and rule of law requirements. To the purpose, panellists and audience are expected to exchange on examples, good practices, and experiences that will be useful for identifying common grounds of action.
