Agho Oliver BAMENJU

Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju is one of the youngest Members of the National Assembly of Cameroon, representing Mezam North since 2020. A dynamic parliamentarian with a strong background in governance, international relations, development planning, digital rights and cybersecurity. Hon. Agho serves on the Executive Committee of the African Parliamentary Network on Internet Governance, where he promotes secure, inclusive, and rights-based digital transformation across Africa. Hon. Agho has represented Cameroon at multiple international fora, including the African and UN Internet Governance Fora (Nigeria, Japan), the Octopus Conference on Cybercrime (Romania), the 1st steering committee of the GLACY-e Project and the 30th Plenary meeting of the Cybercrime Convention Committee, (France), Digital Rights and Inclusion forum, (Zambia), and the Conference on Internet Freedoms in Africa (Tanzania, Senegal) just to mentioned a few. His leadership contributed to Cameroon’s accession to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime.

Beyond cyber governance, he is Secretary of the Parliamentary Network on Sustainable Development Goals and was Chair of the Cameroon National Group for Parliamentarians for Global Action before being elected into the executive committee in 2024. He is a fellow of the African School on Internet Governance, (Nigeria) the European Summer School on Internet Governance, (Germany), and the Global Change Makers Academy for Parliamentarians at the UN System Staff College, (Germany), CPA Parliamentary Academy, (London), Center for Human Rights University of Pretoria, (South Africa). Hon. Agho, has equally won several awards and was recently appointed by the President of the Republic of Cameroon to the rank of the Knight of the Cameroon Order of Merit. Hon. Agho combines policy expertise with advocacy for human rights, digital inclusion, and responsible technology governance. He holds a Master’s in International Cultural Studies and a Certificate in Global Governance and Sustainable Development from Tohoku University, Japan.
