Council of Europe & IAP: Spotlight on giving effect to orders from another party for expedited production of subscriber information and traffic data

The third webinar in the series dedicated to the Second Additional Protocol (SAP) to the Budapest Convention, jointly organised by the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) and the Council of Europe through the GLACY+ and the Octopus Project, took place on 7 December 2021.

The webinar focused on giving effect to orders from another party for an expedited production of subscriber information and traffic data. The expert speakers provided insight on the rationale and forthcoming application of Article 8 of the Second Additional Protocol and explained how these provisions can help to overcome the challenges criminal justice practitioners face in seeking and obtaining access to subscriber information and traffic data from other jurisdictions.

The webinar was attended by approximately 50 participants from across the world who shared their experiences and asked additional questions on how these provisions will apply in practice.

The next joint IAP, GLACY+ project and Octopus Project webinar will take place in February/March 2022, and will focus on joint investigations teams and joint investigations on cybercrime and electronic evidence. The fifth and final webinar in the series will address data protections safeguards and principles in cybercrime investigations, and is scheduled for April/May 2022.
