CyberSouth: Workshop on online fraud and electronic payment frauds

The joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe – CyberSouth – with the support of Romanian National Police and the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) organised a workshop on online fraud and electronic payment fraud, in Bucharest on 12-14 November 2018.

Cybercrime investigators and prosecutors with experience on cybercrime from Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia exchanged knowledge, experience and best practices on the subject.

Experts from DIICOT, Romanian National Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation -SUA, United States Secret Services, Federal Police from Germany, Europol, EAST (European Association for Secure Transactions), Israeli Police shared case studies with the participants and investigation techniques on these types of crimes.

The workshop aimed through an increased knowledge of different trends and typologies of online fraud and electronic payment fraud to contribute to strengthening the capacity of the criminal justice authorities to search, seize and confiscate online crime proceeds generated by these criminal activities.
