CyberSouth: Participation at the 1st EuroMed Conference on Digital Evidence

CyberSouth project country teams participated in the 1st Euromed Conference on Digital Evidence, organized by Euromed Police and Euromed Justice, took place on 23rd -25th April 2018 in Lisbon.

The Conference brought together representatives from the South Partner Countries, and EU Member States (Portugal, Spain), as well as the relevant EU agencies and international organizations, namely Council of Europe (C-PROC Bucharest- CyberSouth Project), CT MENA, EUROJUST , Europol, International Association of Prosecutors, UNCTED, and UNODC.

In the context of evolving and volatile cyber environment, the main purposes of the EuroMed Conference on Digital Evidence were to provide the judicial and investigating authorities with the tools to secure and obtain cross-border electronic evidence quickly and effectively. Law enforcement and judicial authorities from South Partner Countries experience difficulties to access such data like many other countries in the world.

During the meeting, a series of discussions took place related to the challenges in collecting digital evidences. A Practical Guide for Requesting Electronic Evidence from Service Providers was presented with the aim to seek the validation of the participating countries.
