Wetlands International, currently chairing PEDRR (Ecosystem for Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction) organised a meeting in the European Parliament on 10 December 2014 to discuss how the European Union can promote global action to address the underlying causes of disaster risk and vulnerability. The discussion will be a stepping stone towards the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, which will take place in Sendai, Japan, in March 2015. The event brought together members of the European Parliament, the European Commission and practitioners in Disaster Risk Reduction and development. EUR-OPA is one of the leading members of PEDRR.
