The Stefano Rodotà Award is granted biennially by the Committee of Convention 108.
- The Stefano Rodotà Award honours innovative and original academic research projects in the field of data protection with a preferable focus on the legal instruments of the Council of Europe.
- The competition is open to students and researchers from members or observers of the Committee of Convention 108.
- The Jury of the Stefano Rodotà Award is composed of the members of the Bureau of the Committee of Convention 108.
- The selected research is unveiled officially at the Committee’s June plenary meeting. The winner has the opportunity to present his/her work at the plenary session of the Committee of Convention 108.

The Prize is awarded in honour and memory of the leading Italian law Professor and politician, Stefano Rodotà, who worked throughout his life to promote fundamental rights, particularly for the development and implementation of the right to data protection in Europe, leaving an indelible mark on the framing of European policy in this field.
