Dejan Valentinčič holds bachelor's and master's degrees in law and a PhD in sociology. He divides his professional activities between legal practice and academia. He is an Associate Professor of Constitutional Law, International Human Rights Law, and Political Science at New University and the School of Advanced Social Studies, both in Slovenia. He currently serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Slovenian and International Studies and as Head of the Research Group at the American Slovenian Education Foundation (ASEF). He also practices law within the Joint Inter-Municipal Administration of the municipalities of Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, and Kanal ob Soči. In addition, he serves as Secretary General of Europeans Throughout the World, a Brussels-based transnational NGO which connects diaspora organisations across Europe and addresses issues such as voting rights, dual citizenship, and cross-border co-operation. He is the author of four books, three of which focus on minority rights.
