"Rete Faro Italia", inspired by the "Faro Convention Network", is a platform of Italian heritage communities, institutions and associations working together in line with the principles and criteria of the Faro Convention. Such network works to identify common activities and good practices, holds workshops and supports the efforts of its members in addressing the challenges related to the heritage sector.

The definition of heritage community is given in article 2b of the Faro Convention, which states: "a heritage community consists of people who value specific aspects of cultural heritage which they wish, within the framework of public action, to sustain and transmit to future generations."

Rete Faro Italia members share and respect principles and criteria which are the product of a common reflection of the network. These are reviewed and adapted on a regular basis.
