Drug Policy on the frontline at the Venice International University

From 30 November to 3 December 2021 the Drug Policy Executive Course 2021-22, Module II, took place at San Servolo Island, Venice. The headquarter of the Venice International University hosted this International Drug Policy Academy’s course which focused on three main competency areas: substances, behaviour, addictions.

The module explored major psychoactive substances and their potential risks, including connections between the use of psychoactive substances and behavioural dependencies. It also assessed risks and addiction potential of specific psychoactive substances based on their physical properties and evidentiary data.

From the Pompidou Group Thomas Kattau, Deputy Executive Secretary and Elena Hedoux, Director for Programme Implementation of the International Drug Policy Academy, acted as facilitators. Participants were welcomed at the Venice Office by its head Luisella Pavan-Woolfe.

In 2021 the Pompidou Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a programme of events taking place in Europe and beyond, under the motto “Human rights at the heart of drug policies”.
