Training sessions for speaker-judges and judge candidates organised in Baku

The Council of Europe organised two training sessions on “the Judiciary and the media” and “Council of Europe standards on gender equality and media freedom” for the speaker-judges and the judge candidates on 29-30 January 2020 in Baku in partnership with the Academy of Justice. The training sessions aimed to raise awareness among the speaker-judges, recently appointed to ensure a consistent communication and to provide information for the media and the judge candidates undergoing the preparatory training stage of the judicial selection process on the Council of Europe standards on freedom of expression, media freedom and gender equality. Fourteen speaker-judges and 45 judge candidates participated in the training sessions and took an active part in discussions. The training sessions were organized within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Reinforcing gender equality and other ethical standards in Azerbaijani media”
