Representatives of the Council of Europe participated in the CMMA2017: Conference on Media and Migration, organised by the Refugee Radio Network. Participants from various backgrounds, including European journalists and members of the Community Media Forum Europe discussed the role played by community media in promoting freedom of expression and participation in public debate of newly arrived refugees and migrants, as well as other relevant topics, including the spread of misinformation via social media and the importance of media pluralism for a free communication environment. The organisation of the conference was supported by the Council of Europe.
