Roundtable on protection and safety of journalists ‘‘Women journalists and risks to violence against women’’

The Council of Europe Office in Pristina, under framework of projects EU/CoE “Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media (JUFREX2)” and "Reinforcing the fight against violence against women and domestic violence - Phase II"  organised a roundtable discussion addressing issues related to protection and safety of journalists, with special emphasis to women journalists and risks to violence against women. The event also marks 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, thus raising awareness on important role of media for preventing violence against women and domestic violence.

Around 50 participants attended the online roundtable including the media representatives, journalists, diplomatic embassies in Kosovo*, international organisations, NGOs, representatives of the Judiciary, Government and local institutions.

The roundtable was presented through a panel discussion including panellists from independent experts in the field of Freedom of Expression, protection and safety of journalists, with focus on women journalists, members of the Association of Journalists of Kosovo as well as the Chief State Prosecutor Office.
