The number of Internet-related disputes invoking the freedom of expression is rising continuously. As a result, more such cases are being brought before national courts every year. Organised by the Supreme Court of Cyprus in cooperation with the Council of Europe and in the framework of the Cypriot Chairmanship of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, the Conference offers an opportunity for an exchange of view between representatives of the judiciary from Member States, European judges, media experts, civil society and the private sector to reflect on contemporary challenges surrounding freedom of expression online and to exchange experiences regarding the application of human rights and rule of law standards to an environment of constant technological evolution.
