Working meeting held in Konjic to advance journalists' safety and freedom of expression in Bosnia and Herzegovina

On February 10–11, 2025, a working meeting was held in Konjic to support the development of a strategic document aimed at strengthening the protection of journalists and promoting freedom of expression in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was organised by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees (MHRR BiH) with technical assistance from the "EU for Inclusion in BiH" project.

The meeting gathered contact points from prosecutors’ offices and police agencies, representatives of the journalist community, and Deputy National Contact Points for the Council of Europe’s “Journalists Matter” campaign. Discussions focused on aligning national efforts with European standards and reviewing proposed frameworks based on EU and regional practices.

Participants, including representatives from MHRR, BIRN, and the Brčko District Prosecutor’s Office, shared insights on improving institutional responses and legal protections for journalists. The event concluded with a review of the proposed strategic framework and the exchange of recommendations to guide its development.
