Training workshop on defamation and practical advice for journalists was organised in Pristina

Under the joint project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)” co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe organised a training workshop for journalists on national and international standards on defamation held in Pristina on 30 November.

The training workshop was delivered by the international and local trainers, who primarily were focused on defamation case law in regard to the Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights and also treated topics such as strategic lawsuits against public participation, value judgments vs. facts, protection of the sources in defamation cases etc.

The experts provided interactive training by combining the presentations and discussions of case studies which allowed space for trainees to raise questions and discuss thoroughly the issues of their interest.
