On 10-14 September 2018, the Council of Europe organised in Chisinau, Moldova a training seminar for the members and staff members of the Coordinating Council of Audiovisual (CCA) on how to apply to their daily work the CCA’s revised media monitoring methodology. The event was organised within the EU/CoE Joint Project “Promoting media freedom and pluralism in the Republic of Moldova”.

The participants were trained on how to monitor political and electoral coverage, social pluralism and advertising, including sexism in advertising, in accordance with the revised media monitoring methodology developed recently in the framework of the project.

The CCA members and staff members learned how to monitor disinformation and propaganda, inflammatory speech, xenophobia and racism, hate speech and defamation. They also discussed with the trainers from MEMO98 (Slovakia) the most significant challenges in the previous election cycles and the challenges for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled in February 2019.

This training is part of a comprehensive range of activities aimed at supporting the broadcasting regulatory authority and at increasing its capacity to work in an independent and transparent manner in accordance with Council of Europe standards and in full respect of the public interest.
