Training of trainers for judges and prosecutors in Republika Srpska

20 judges and prosecutors, working in different cities and on different levels of judiciary in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovian (BiH), participated in a training of trainers on application of Article 10 on freedom of expression in the national judiciary system. Alongside the discussion on key principles of freedom of expression, through the practice of European Court for Human Rights, but also through the domestic court practice, this training also focused on a methodology for education of adults, professionals in this area. The idea is that after this seminar, a group of judges and prosecutors from RS, certified to hold educations and cascade trainings for their peers, whilst applying the methodology of the Council of Europe and using the standards of the European Court of Human Rights, is further expanded.

Alongside with the international expert of the Council of Europe on the Article 10 of ECHR, Konul Gasimova, a domestic experts – a judge of the Supreme Court of BiH and a lawyer from Doboj, Irena Puzic Obradovic, had been also educators at the training.

The training has been organized within the framework of joint EU/CoE project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)”, in cooperation with the Centre for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of Republika Srpska.
