On 10 October 2024, Ukraine adopted Law No. 4016-IX, amending Article 15 of the Law of Ukraine "On State Support for Media, Guarantees of Professional Activity, and Social Protection of Journalists." According to the amendments, media entities must, at their own expense or at the expense of any other sources not prohibited by law, provide life, health, and disability insurance for journalists and other media workers against accidents under insurance class 1 as defined by Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine "On Insurance" during their assignments in war zones and/or temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
The procedure and conditions of such insurance shall be determined by the central executive body responsible for the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of media, information, and publishing, in agreement with the National Bank of Ukraine. These procedure and conditions are currently being developed.
