Launching of the publication “The right to access information: national and international jurisprudence” in Pristina

Press Council of Kosovo with the support of the EU/CoE Programme “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)” launched the publication on the right to access information. It contains summary of landmark judgements of all local courts and the European Court of Human Rights on the right to information in official languages. In addition, the publication includes decisions of Ombudsperson Institution and National Agency on Data Protection. It aims to help local authorities to implement and guarantee the right to freedom of information of journalists, civil society organisations and citizens in general.

The presentation was followed with constructive discussion among representatives of the Ombudsperson Institution, National Agency for Data Protection, judges, civil society representatives and journalists and journalism students, who were present to the event.

The publication will be disseminated to the judges across all courts, prosecution offices and several copies will be made available to lawyers and journalists. In this way we will ensure wide relevant audience, who could refer to the cases when needed during their daily work.

The publication could be found in both official local languages: Albanian and Serbian.

This event was implemented with the financial assistance of the European Union and the Council of Europe. The views expressed herein can in no way be taken to reflect the official opinion of the European Union
