JUFREX2: Protection of children and minors and media ethics

The EU/CoE Action on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the media in Kosovo* (JUFREX2)  in cooperation with the Association of Journalists organised a one day training/lecture for journalists, students and civil society activists on protection of minors in the media on 12 July 2021.

Media actors, representatives of non-governmental organisations, including those dealing with children's rights and media regulatory, attended the online event.

The participants had the opportunity to learn about the importance of protecting children and minors in the media, the relevant international and Council of Europe legal instruments on the protection of minors, the role of the media and the local media regulatory and self-regulatory authorities as well as the importance of privacy of minors (the balance between Article 10 and 8). Concrete examples of content that might seriously impair minors were also provided to the audience attending the event.
