Human rights documentaries premiered in Chisinau, with Council of Europe’s support

The Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, jointly with Telefilm-Chisinau, organised an evening of premieres of three short documentaries with a social and human rights dimension "My Courtyard," "DizarmoNICA" and "A Sky without Stars," developed with the Council of Europe support in 2021.

The event which gathered over 150 guests at the National Theatre Eugene Ionesco, screened three short films - "My courtyard," authored by Ana Gurdiș, reflecting the story of a victim of domestic violence which mobilized the entire Moldovan society and sparked an unprecedented wave of support for her. "DizarmoNICA," produced by Jasmin Delev, about the challenges of today's teenagers in the absence of the family's primary support, and lastly, "A Sky Without Stars" developed by Victor Popovici, who is the author and the protagonist of the film, reflecting about a life lived with severe visual impairment in a society not fully prepared for it.

The event was attended by public officials, media, civil society representatives and independent filmmakers. In light of this, the Council of Europe reiterated its commitment to support initiatives aimed at developing communication products which bring added value to the audiovisual field of the country and to society overall.

The event was organized by the Council of Europe Project "Support for Media Pluralism and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Moldova"
