The Crime Victims' Centre in Sweden was allocated funds to build a national contact point for journalists in need of support and protection. The national contact point tasks include providing legal assistance, information on law enforcement authorities and fundings for legal advice, psychological support, or protective equipment. This new contact point has the objective of addressing the needs of independent journalists which do not have the support function that large media companies can provide. This function is planned to be sustainable and long-term, although the current funding only covers 2024-2025.
