Back Consultation of European stakeholders on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the UN Plan of Action discussed in Brussels

Artemiza Chisca, Head of the Media and Internet Governance Division and Giulia Lucchese, Secretary to the Expert Committee on Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation (MSI-SLP), participated in a consultation on the implementation of the UN plan of action on the safety of journalists and the issue of impunity which took place in Brussels on 20 September 2022, at the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU. The consultation of European stakeholders was organised by UNESCO in cooperation with the Council of Europe in preparation for the 10th anniversary of the UN Plan of Action. Council of Europe officials engaged in the discussion and provided inputs in the area of prevention, protection and prosecution. They used the opportunity to inform on latest activities to enhance the protection of journalists safety and plans for the years to come in relation to journalists’ safety, which continues to be a top priority on the Organisation's agenda. They also underlined the importance of synergy and coordination between the efforts made by various international organisations in the field.
