On 7 April 2022, the Bureau of the Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI) held its 22nd meeting.

They took note of the adoption by the Committee of Ministers of several texts developed by the CDMSI in the previous years:

and discussed the prospects for the future CDMSI work, including follow-up to the decisions of the Conference of Ministers responsible for Media and Information Society (10-11 June 2021).

The Bureau heard also reports on the work of the expert committees subordinate to the CDMSI - Committee of experts on Integrity of Online Information (MSI-INF), Committee of Experts on Increasing Media Resilience (MSI-RES) and Committee of Experts on Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation (MSI-SLP) – which held their first meetings in March - early April 2022, and was content with the progress made so far and with the roadmaps agreed by the three expert committees.

The Council of Europe Division on Cooperation on freedom of expression and the Secretariat of the Committee for the Convention 108 provided updates about the respective work of the Council of Europe. Their cooperation and regular information exchange were highly appreciated by the Bureau.

Following the decision of the Committee of Ministers on 16 March 2022 the Russian Federation is no longer a member of the Council of Europe. The website will be updated as soon as possible to take account of this development.
