On 29 September 2020 the Bureau of the CDMSI held its 19th meeting. In view of the persistent concerns related to the sanitary situation in Europe, the meeting was organised via videoconferencing.

The Bureau took note of the reports from the first meetings of the expert committees subordinated to CDMSI - Committee of Experts on Freedom of Expression and Digital Technologies (MSI-DIG) and Committee of Experts on Media Environment and Reform (MSI-REF) and of the latest developments with regard to the joint Committee of Experts on Combating Hate Speech (ADI/MSI-DIS). It further discussed the CDMSI forthcoming Plenary meeting (24-25 November 2020) and activity planning for the current biennium. Among other things, the Bureau exchanged on CDMSI co-operation with the Consultative Committee of Convention 108 and on the state of preparations for the Conference of Ministers responsible for media and information society (Nicosia, Cyprus – rescheduled to 10-11 June 2021) and the forthcoming steps in the organisation of this important event.
