A week of Human Rights Documentaries marked across Moldova

In the context of the Council of Europe Week in the Republic of Moldova to mark the 27th anniversary of the country's accession to the Council of Europe, during 11-17 July 2022, five open-air screenings of documentary films took place in five localities in the Republic of Moldova, covering the North, South, and Centre of the country.

The documentaries developed with the Council of Europe’s media programmes’ support in 2021, 2020 and 2019 reached the summer school for children in Telenesti, the Prison for women in Rusca, a Sanatorium in Cahul and the Saratica Noua village and Falesti city (where three of the films’ protagonists live).

All events were opened by public officials (Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Moldova, General Director of the Public Broadcaster, the General Director of the National Administration of Penitentiaries) and attended by hundreds of residents and guests in each locality.

The Human Rights Documentary Films Caravan aimed to mark the 27th anniversary of the country's accession to the Council of Europe, by promoting the Council of Europe core values, ideals, principles and the impact that the co-operation programmes in the field of freedom of expression and media pluralism have in the country.
