Parliamentarians for Global Action, GLACY+ and Octopus Project: Third Regional Parliamentary Webinar to Promote Universality and Implementation of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime

On 8 December, GLACY+ and the Octopus Project together with the Parliamentarians for Global Action organised the third webinar from a series of four thematic webinars to promote the universality and implementation of the Budapest Convention and its Protocol/s to ensure an effective and coordinated approach to tackle cybercrime.

This webinar was dedicated to the Asia/Pacific region providing parliamentarians and policy makers with a platform for identifying effective approaches to countering cybercrime and for making use of the opportunities offered by the Budapest Convention and capacity building support offered by the Council of Europe.

Participants from Bangladesh, Fiji, Cambodia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Seychelles, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, India and Vanuatu became more familiar with the main attributes of the Budapest Convention as the most relevant international treaty on cybercrime and e-evidence. Moreover, representatives from the Philippines and Sri Lanka shared their experiences on the process of becoming Party to the Budapest Convention and how they benefitted further.

Follow the agenda of the upcoming webinar in the series – January 2022 – Latin America, along with more details and relevant information on the capacity building programmes implemented by the Council of Europe, on our webpage
