Pristina, Kosovo* ,

Judges and prosecutors from Kosovo*1 participated in the Pilot delivery of the Introductory Training Course on Cybercrime, Electronic Evidence and Online Crime Proceeds, organised within the framework of iPROCEEDS project in cooperation with the Kosovo* Academy of Justice and part of the 2018 annual judicial training programme.

The training module, delivered by local trainers with assistance from international experts, touched upon current cybercrime threats and trends, various types of technology, procedures and practice related to electronic evidence, cybercrime legislation (Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and national provisions), as well as financial investigations of cybercrime proceeds, online criminal money flows and money laundering typologies, international and public-private avenues of cooperation aimed at fighting cybercrime and at the search, seizure and confiscation of online crime proceeds.

Lack of adequate training can be a major obstacle in having judges and prosecutors responding to the threat of cybercrime, online crime proceeds and handling electronic evidence in an effective and efficient way. The importance of such trainings was acknowledged by all participants in the course.
