The series of workshops on the development of a domestic toolkit for first responders to cybercrime investigations, organised within the framework of the CyberSouth project, continued with the meeting organised on the 15th of March 2022 for the Moroccan authorities.
In the given international context, strengthening of criminal justice capacities to fight cybercrime is more relevant than ever.
Topics like the concept of first responders, the assistance for the victims or the protection of evidence integrity were covered during the workshop and a significant part of the presentation was dedicated to the Guide for first responders to cybercrime investigations.
Representatives of several Moroccan authorities, such as the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the General Directorate for National Security, the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of Information Systems Security, had thus the opportunity to improve their knowledge regarding the concept and responsibilities of first responders to cybercrime investigations and the relevance of a dedicated domestic toolkit. Moreover, the representative of the Royal Gendarmerie presented their reporting mechanism, competence and capacities in the fight against cybercrime.
Further support will be given by the CyberSouth project for the development of a national guide for first responders in cybercrime investigations after an assessment at the domestic level of the need of such a tool.
