Congress to participate in the 5th Open Government Partnership Summit

Members of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities will participate in the 5th Open Government Partnership Global (OGP) Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia, on July 17-19, 2018, jointly with ten Ukrainian mayors and representatives from more than 70 countries.

The Summit provides a unique opportunity to foster the contribution of local authorities to the OGP national commitments and to discuss challenges and opportunities related to open governance, transparency, accountability and citizen participation.

Ukrainian mayors will also exchange with Georgian peers during the side event organised jointly with the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) and hosted by the Municipality of Rustavi, Georgia. The workshop “Open Governance at Local level: Cities Take Action” will offer a place for networking and exchange of good practices in the implementation of open government principles at local level.

The participation to the 5th Open Government Partnership Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia, is organised in the framework of the project “Strengthening democracy and building trust at local level in Ukraine”, implemented by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities as part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2021. The project aims to improve the quality of local democracy in Ukraine by strengthening institutional frameworks and by supporting local authorities and their national associations in their efforts to promote ethical decision-making and more citizen-oriented, responsive and transparent local governance.
