Blancanieves awarded Jury Special Prize in San Sebastian

Following on from its selection to represent Spain at the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category and its highly positive reception at the Toronto Film Festival last month, Pablo Berger's film Blancanieves, a Spanish-French co-production supported by Eurimages, was awarded the Special Jury Prize and the Silver Shell for Best Actress (Macarena García, pictured) in the official selection at the San Sebastian International Film Festival on 29 September. Michael Haneke's film Amour was also awarded the Grand Prix for Best Film of the Year by the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) at the festival's opening gala.
