Istanbul: Council of Europe Film Award ceremony

Maud de Boer-Buquicchio announced during the closing ceremony of the 28th international film festival in Istanbul that the third Film Award of the Council of Europe (FACE) was given to Marco Bechis.
Jury members, amongst which Mr Peter Gustafsson, the Swedish representative to the Eurimages Board of Management and President of the Promotion’s Working group, also decided to reward Nandita Das with a Special Jury Prize, for her film ''Firaaq'' which courageously deals with the highly sensitive theme of religious intolerance and sectarian strife: showing its terrible consequences, ''Firaaq'' also conveys a message of hope and demonstrates that people can make choices.
The prize awarded to Marco Bechis consists of a bronze sculpture and a cash prize of 10,000 euros, half of which was financed by Eurimages.
