Culture, Heritage and Diversity

Rotterdam has joined the Intercultural Cities network

Further to the expert visit in Rotterdam (September 2012), the City of Rotterdam has now signed the Agreement to join the Intercultural Cities network.

On signing Rotterdam has agreed to update the Index and to continue work on its intercultural strategy. This underlines, yet again, the growing recognition of cities to build a stronger empowerment for citizens and to better develop an understanding of the diversity advantage for the business sector, to improve integration and the education sector to name but a few. Rotterdam will also actively participate in exchange or expert visits to learn and to share knowledge of best practice both at national and international level.

The ICC network now counts 21 member states with an intercultural city participating at international level and extends to further 56 associated cities throughout the national networks of Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Ukraine.
