Culture, Heritage and Diversity

The Immigrant Council of Ireland recently rolled out the campaign to mark the European Week against Racism!

The Immigrant Council of Ireland along with the National Transport Authority, Dublin Bus, Veolia Transport Dublin Light Rail ltd, Irish Rail and Dublin City Council were involved in the initiative aimed at highlighting that public transport links and racism divides. The campaign involved developing a poster, a photo call featuring employees of the transport companies involved plus a taxi driver (see the press release). Furthermore, taxi drivers operating around the country received an email from the National Transport Authority as part of the campaign.

Finally, flags were flown on the flag posts on the banks of the river Liffey. Likewise, the poster was visible at Dublin airport close to the taxi ranks. The poster was displayed by the 3 public transport partners on the buses, trams and suburban trains.

The campaign was very successful and generated many comments and media attention. A special email address was used and we will be doing a report on the messages received.

It has been a great experience for the Immigrant Council of Ireland which confirms that partnership works!
