An evening dedicated to refugee and migrant women in Technopolis City of Athens

At a time of intense refugee and migratory flows, and with women’s role in society being redefined, the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and METAdrasi are organising a special event.

On Thursday, October 4th, at 20:00, in Technopolis, they invite you to attend an exclusive screening of Elisa Amoruso’s and Maria Antonietta Mariani’s film “Strange strangers”migrant women talking about themselves and participate in an open discussion.

The film depicts a day in the lives of five women from five different countries, who live in Italy: Sihem from Tunisia, Radi from Bulgaria, Sonia from China, Ana from Croatia and Ljuba from Serbia. Intertwining their stories, the narrative weaves together their emotions, joyful moments and challenges experienced in the pursuit of their new identity in a foreign country.

A discussion on “The role of arts and culture in integration of migrant and refugee women” will follow with the special participation of the screenwriter of Strange Strangers, Maria Antonietta Mariani. Zainab Fasiki, an illustration artist from Morocco, Malak Swed, a women rights’ advocate and expert from Syria and the advocates Mohab Saber from the Egyptian cultural organisation El Madina and Ruba Al Sharif from I-Dare For Sustainable Development in Jordan will join in the public discussion.

The event will be held in English and is open to the public with free entrance.
