8 films supported by Eurimages rewarded in Cannes !

The 71st edition of the Cannes Film Festival which came to a close on 19 May 2018 rewarded a total of 8 films supported by Eurimages, four of which were in official competition :

  • Ayka (DE, RU, KZ, PL) by Sergey Dvortsevoy with the Award for Best Actress for Samal Yeslyamova ;
  • Dogman (IT, FR) by Matteo Garrone with the Award for Best Actor for Marcello Fonte ;
  • Lazzaro felice (Heureux comme Lazzaro) (IT, FR, CH, DE) by Alice Rohrwacher with the Best Screenplay Award and
  • Zimna wojna (Cold War) (PL, FR, UK) by Pawel Pawlikowski with the Best Director Award.

The co-production between Sweden and Denmark Gräns (Border) by Ali Abbasi received the Un Certain Regard Award whilst the Best Director Prize of this same section was given to Donbass (DE, UA, FR, RO, NL) by Sergei Loznitsa.

At the Critics’ Week, Kona fer í stríð (Woman at War) by Benedikt Erlingsson, a co-production between Iceland, France and Ukraine, received the SACD Prize.

Finally, the film Samouni Road (FR, IT) by Stefano Savona, selected at the Director’s Fortnight, received the Golden Eye documentary prize.
