A series of meetings and a workshop on inter-municipal co-operation (IMC) for solid waste management (SWM) took place in Batumi and Keda, Adjara region, on 19-21 September, with the support of the Centre of Expertise for Local Government Reform, DG-II, the Council of Europe.
The activity gathered together representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Adjara Government (Ministry of Finance and Economy), local stakeholders and Council of Europe experts. As a result of discussions, a new option (combining first and second) was developed. The participants also mentioned the possibility to outsource the SWM related services to a private company at the later stage.
This event was funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Council of Europe, within the Thematic Programme “Strengthening institutional frameworks for local governance” under the Partnership for Good Governance (PGG) 2015-2017 for Eastern Partnership countries.
