The Council of Europe Office in Chișinău is the second largest external office of the Council of Europe.

The Council of Europe began its activities in Chișinău in June 1997. In October 2002, the Committee of Ministers appointed a Special Representative of the Secretary General to Chișinău.

Since then, the number of projects has grown significantly. Today, the office implements 20 projects: 16 funded through voluntary contributions and 4 through the EU/Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance.
